3-Story Rundown #1 (July 31, 2015)

So It has been a while since I started this blog, and it is still a desolate place even for a mad man.  While I do enjoy posting criticisms and throwing out insults at the appropriate people, I;m afraid I will have to tone down a bit.  I have to go back to college next week and it depresses me.  So, to spend the last remaining days of laziness and boredom, I will post a three-story rundown.  starting with this:

1.) Mar Roxas announces presidential bid.

I am writing this as I watch Rappler's livestream the presidential bid at Club Filipino.  Mar Roxas has, unsrprisingly, announced that he will run for president.  Keep in mind that he will run against Vice President Jejomar Binay, the same man that beat him in the 2010 elections for vice president.  This was the election that got Roxas so butthurt, he demanded the Supreme Court to investigate the said election.

After four years of healing the buttock wounds inflicted by the walking Nazarene, he comes back with a vengeance.  This is a recounting of that event four years ago because not only will he face Binay, but he has the endorsement of our current president Benigno Aquino III.  The similarities of both elections will make you wonder: "Will the lightning ever strike twice?"  Only time will tell, as we have less than a year until the elections.

2.) Alma Moreno and Princess Jacel Kiram picked as Binay's running mate

Yes, you read it right.  Binay brought in an actress and a princess to his line-up.  As always, I'm disappointed.  It is as if he isn't even trying anymore.  If I could make a conspiracy theory, I would think that he told his search committee to just look for anyone who is famous so that they would definitely vote for them.  He might have added that they must have a political background just so they could have an excuse for them.  If your argument is that their political background is sufficient to vote for, then let's review:

Alma Moreno ran for council four times, losing the first one and winning the rest.  She has experience in being a councilor, that I can admit.  However, it is a mighty big jump from councilor to senator.  This is why have reason for doubts about her.  I don't want to have another Nancy Binay in the Senate.

As for Princess Jacel Kiram, she is the daughter of the man who's solution for land ownership is guns and army men.  I am not saying she has some responsibility in this, but they are still fighting for this.  Even Binay said that we can't let go of our claim in Sabah.  If the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, we might get into some trouble in the future.

My question now to Binay is: "What's next?"  You have Bongbong Marcos Jr., Tito "Sotto Copy" Sotto, and possibly Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao as running mates.  What famous person who happens to be famous will you pick next?

3.) Malls participate in earthquake drill, People participate not so much

I did know that there will be an earthquake drill, but I did not expect it to be this situated.  The government apparently planned any scenarios that might happen if the so-called "The Big One" arrives.  I admit, I am impressed by the extensiveness of this drill, until TV Patrol reported this:

I am satisfied that the malls participated in this, but disappointed that the people doesn't give a damn what was happening.  Yeah, maybe the information dissemination was ineffective and the sirens weren't loud enough to cause alarm.  However, for those that do know and heard it, can we just have some kind of participation for your nation?  You can go back to defending your property at CoC.

As I watched the whole news, my disappointment turned into irritation when I also watched this:

Are you kidding me?  The only reasons why you didn't take the drill seriously is because you have no cooperation and you started fan boy/girl mode when you saw a celebrity.  What is it with you and celebrities?  I have some celebrities I look up to, and they are not in show business.  Despite that, I won't go screaming at them and taking loads of pictures as I admire them more.  Why is it that a lot of Filipinos get distracted when it comes to celebrities?  I swear that when the Big One comes and you go straight for your favorite celebrity, I will curse you to death.

And that is all you will get for this week's 3-story rundown.  I plan on making this a regular thing to relieve the stupidity I see on news.  As always, any errors you find will be noted, if there is ever a reader in this desolate blog site.
